The LIFE TURBINES project is proud to announce that it was shortlisted as a finalist in the Technology & Infrastructure Award at Water Innovation Europe 2025 in Copenhagen. This recognition places LIFE TURBINES among a select group of projects acknowledged for delivering practical, innovative solutions that strengthen the resilience and sustainability of water systems across Europe.
The event gathered policymakers, utilities, technology providers and researchers to spotlight the most promising advances in water management and infrastructure. LIFE TURBINES was recognised for its novel application of micro-hydropower technology to recover energy from urban drinking water distribution networks and convert it into renewable electricity, without compromising water quality or supply.
While IDEXX won the award this year, the LIFE TURBINES team values the visibility and validation that such a nomination brings, highlighting the project’s technical progress across pilot sites and the growing interest in solutions that link water services with the clean-energy transition.
