PROJECT

Join our mission for a sustainable, energy-efficient future. Explore how LIFE TURBINES is revolutionizing urban water systems by harnessing untapped energy, leading Europe towards smarter water management and climate-neutral cities.

WP 1

LIFE TURBINES project focuses on the initial planning and analysis phase, aimed at laying the groundwork for the innovative integration of turbines into urban water supply networks. This work package includes comprehensive studies to identify optimal locations for turbine installation, the development of digital tools for turbine selection and sizing, and the establishment of guidelines for integrating this technology without disrupting water service. The objective is to prepare a solid foundation for demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of generating clean energy from existing urban water infrastructures, contributing to the overall goal of enhancing energy efficiency and promoting sustainable urban development.

WP 2

WP2 of the LIFE TURBINES project is dedicated to the design and development of the turbine technology itself. This includes engineering innovative turbines that can efficiently convert the kinetic energy from urban water supply systems into electricity. Emphasis is on creating turbines that are adaptable to varying flow rates and pressures, ensuring minimal impact on water distribution while maximizing energy generation.

WP 3

WP3 focuses on the installation and operational testing of turbines within selected urban water networks. This stage involves the practical application of the turbines designed in WP2, setting them up at strategic locations identified in WP1. The goal is to evaluate the turbines’ performance in real-world conditions, assess their energy generation capabilities, and ensure they operate seamlessly within the existing water infrastructure.

WP 4

WP4 is centered on monitoring and analyzing the data collected from the operational testing phase in WP3. This work package aims to verify the energy efficiency improvements and the environmental benefits of the turbine installations. Key performance indicators, such as energy generated, reduction in carbon emissions, and impact on water distribution efficiency, are closely monitored and evaluated.

WP 5

WP5 focuses on the dissemination of the project’s findings and the promotion of its technology. Activities include sharing results with stakeholders in the water and energy sectors, engaging with the public through educational campaigns, and advocating for policy changes to support the wider adoption of this innovative energy solution. The aim is to increase awareness and foster a supportive environment for the deployment of LIFE TURBINES technology.

WP 6

WP6 addresses the project management and coordination activities necessary to ensure the project’s success. This includes overseeing the execution of the project plan, managing resources, coordinating between project partners, and ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. Effective project management is crucial for achieving the project’s objectives within the set timeframe and budget.
