LIFE TURBINES highlights its project innovation at LIFE NEXUS Final Event

The LIFE TURBINES project was prominently featured at the final event of the LIFE NEXUS initiative, held on November 26, 2024, in León, Spain. Representing EMIMET, Arantxa Gamón presented insights into how hydropower technology can enhance the sustainability of drinking water distribution systems. Her presentation introduced the innovative approaches of the LIFE TURBINES project, which focuses on transforming the natural flow of water into renewable electricity by leveraging existing infrastructure.

The event, organized by the LIFE NEXUS project, served as a platform for environmental innovation and collaboration, gathering policymakers, businesses, researchers, and NGOs to tackle critical sustainability challenges. Attendees engaged in discussions on sustainable water solutions, with a particular emphasis on the integration of hydropower technologies into urban water systems.

Gamón presented the feasibility of generating renewable energy within urban water networks, contributing to the decarbonization of municipal water cycles without compromising water quality or supply, and how the project seeks to integrate microturbines into existing water infrastructure, the project seeks to produce clean electricity efficiently.
