LIFE TURBINES Joins Spain’s Leading Urban Water Forum At The 38th DAQUAS Congress

From 3 to 5 June 2026, LIFE TURBINES participated in the 38th DAQUAS Congress, held at the Palacio Municipal de IFEMA in Madrid. Organised by the Spanish Urban Water Association (DAQUAS) with Canal de Isabel II as the host entity, the congress brought together professionals, utilities, research organisations and companies from across Spain to discuss the future of the integrated urban water cycle. The event once again served as the country’s principal meeting point for technical debate, innovation and knowledge exchange within the water sector.

LIFE TURBINES took part in this important gathering to strengthen its engagement with the Spanish water community and share its vision for integrating renewable energy generation into drinking water infrastructure. Stéphanie Aparicio from Aguas De Valencia (Global Omnium) presented the LIFE TURBINES project and connected with experts working across water management, digitalisation, infrastructure and sustainability, highlighting the potential of micro-hydropower to recover energy from excess pressure in water distribution networks without affecting service quality or reliability.

The technical programme, complemented by the Water Technology Exhibition, provided an ideal environment to explore emerging trends and innovative solutions addressing the challenges facing urban water systems. Discussions on resilience, efficiency, digital transformation and decarbonisation closely reflected the objectives of LIFE TURBINES, reinforcing the growing importance of technologies capable of delivering environmental and operational benefits through existing infrastructure.

Participation in the DAQUAS Congress represents another step in LIFE TURBINES’ commitment to promoting sustainable innovation within the water sector. By engaging with water professionals, public authorities and technology providers, the project continues to build awareness of its renewable energy solution while contributing to the broader conversation on creating smarter, more resilient and energy-efficient urban water networks across Europe.
